Jade Maw boss fight from Guild Wars 2
Boss monster I built for the Fractals of the Mist dungeons. The tentacles were especially super fun to make!

Guild Wars 2 Launch Date!
Tuesday, August 28th 2012 we are finally going live with Guild Wars 2! Over five years in the making this game is gonna be big. I am so excited and proud of seeing this world come to life and to be a part of making it.I hope to see you in game sometime. I'll be playing it a bunch! Probably as an Asura or Charr, I'm still mulling over my character roll. :)
At 0:33 you can see a sneak peak of one of my critters. It's a bit big!

Faun
So I've been falling deep into 60s songs lately. This lead me internet diving into 60s foreign cover songs and I found myself in 60s Japan. Wonderful often funny songs. Talking about it to a friend this leaped me over to a style of music called Enka, very nostalgic music. I listened to a bunch of it! Where I discovered the performer Jero on Youtube, linking me into the Yoshida Brothers. Sharing them I found out about Rodrigo Y Gabriela. It's really amazing how powerful the internet is. Rapidly exposing new undiscovered and unexpected treasures.
Too much fun sometimes!

Quick ZBrush Sculpt
I encountered some wonkyness while sculpting initially. I shrank the zbrush window to adjust my Pandora station and brought in a sphere for the eyeball. This made the head sculpt squish super flat. Oops! You can see me trying to figure out how to unflatten the poor guy.
I'm in the habit of modelling really sharp when I start out. After I get some good planes in there I like to start softening the model, bringing it back towards reality. Sometime I hope to finish something and you'll be able to see the whole process. I think all of the models on this site so far are just quick starts. Since I model all day I'd rather be drawing when I get home. I really ought to do something nice sometime. Tempted to do just a real good dino. I like them a lot...but I do see so many dinos online.

Rawr! Cuatro sketchbooks for sale
I've got the new book online! 198 pages of sketching and learning over the past year. You can find copies of it directly on Lulu.com HERE. And also on Amazon.com HERE. If you buy through Amazon at least check out the Lulu preview, it has a better image selection.
If you happen to be in the Seattle area you can get in touch with me for a signed and sketched in copy. Just comment on the blog and I'll make that happen. I really like drawing stuff in them.
I'll also repost my book from last year, Rawr! Tres which has lots more animal design work and less life drawing. You can find that one HERE.

ECCC sketches
I think I just about destroyed my hand doing sketches at Emerald City this weekend. I did a whole bunch of on the spot commissions as well as drawing in every book I sold. Except for Albert's.(You know what you did Albert)
Here are a few of the sketches Trevor managed to get shots of before they began floating off into the ether.
Los Twang! I dare you to find sexier guitar.
The Lumineers!
Can't go wrong with Talking Heads, nope.

life drawing excercises
Life drawings photographed? Check.
Am hoping to have the book compiled and print ready this weekend. Just need to scrub the life drawings and figure out which pages I want to keep. I'm well over 300 clean, laid out pages.
I really like doing these kinds of break down exercises in life drawing. Grabs at the heart of what I like about character design. Looking back I'm never pushing as hard as I think I am towards those exaggerations!

Sketchbook in the works
Quick update! I'm currently spending all my after hours time putting together this year's sketchbook. Should have it in time for Emerald City Comicon. I'll be there as a part of Artists of Sketchwich @ booth 120 along with Trevor Howell, Doug Williams, James Phinney, Dan Cole, and Matt Barrett.
Hope to get back to posting art here soon!

quick camels
Emerald City Comicon is coming up pretty quick. I just began scanning in all my sketchbooks tonight. Whew... It's a lot of stuff! Hope to have it all scanned, cleaned, and ready for print this month.
Really looking forward to the convention this year. A bunch of us from the Sketchwich group decided to join forces in an omega booth this time! Some of the nicest most talented kids around trapped for three days in a giant party box.

wolfie
Getting there.
Been trying to get my brain to flip positive and negative shapes without thinking so much about it. When I relax I can get some pretty neat stuff to happen. I need to make some time to get my hands deeper in the idea. Mess around more with real ink and paper, and plan a bit beforehand.
