Gummi Venus De Milo

Hooray for obscure Simpsons references!
I made some tiny gummi venus de milos using food grade silicone for the molds with concentrated gelatin and melon flavored koolaid.
Thanks much to Dan Cole for taking these truly awesome photos!

Edit:
Hooray! I've been linked on diylife.com

Oh I didn't know you made these! I remember seeing them! Really cool idea! Is there a way you can preserve them so they last forever?

Yep, sure can Sarita. Just leave them out uncovered and they shrink slightly, but become rock hard and nigh indestructible.

i just showed this to my husband and said, "we need to make gummies of everything."

did you taste any of them?

I'm so pleased by this. Thanks!

It's not obscure to any real Simpsons fan. And it's truly awesome!!

This is no good unless

1. It was carved by hand
2. You work exclusively in the medium of gummi

I'm afraid your attempt fails to live up to the standard described in that episode.

Hey Katy,

I left you a Facebook message because I'd really like to write an article about your Gummi Venus idea. If you're interested, please check it and get back to me. :)

Until you posted it, I didn't think such a thing could be done.

I'm throwing a black-tie gummi tasting (because why not?) and this would be absolutely perfect to add to it!

I found this blog post through Crafster.org and was wondering if I could pester you and ask a few questions, if you wouldn't mind.

Which brand of unflavored gelatin would you recommend? I've never done this sort of thing before and am a little intimidated.

HI Ava, yeah shot me your questions! I used this for the gummis, mixed with some green food coloring and green jello.

Hey Katy

This is great stuff! Where did you get the silicone mold?

RabidPuppyDesign said...

do you sell the mould for this? I'm a huge simpsons fan and would love to make a batch of these myself.
