I always have this thought about an angler fish enamored with his own light. Kind of a carrot before the horse scenario. He eventually chomps it and his belly lights up and growls. Everything goes dim and it's implied he starves to death later. Or maybe it lights up while he sleeps attracting little things to eat. He lives by accidentally eating these creatures while trying to devour the light himself.
